Mass of Christian burial for Dr. Albert C. Strafuss, 78, Lawrence, was Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial followed at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chapman. Dr. Strafuss died Sunday, May 28, 2006, at his home. He was born Jan. 24, 1928, in Princeton, the son of Karl B. and Mary B. Fischer Strafuss. He served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge in 1947. He attended Kansas State University and received a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1954. He also received a master's degree from Iowa State University in 1958 and a doctorate in veterinary pathology from the University of Minnesota in 1963. He was a faculty member at Iowa State and the University of Missouri before coming to Kansas State University in 1968. He retired as a professor of veterinary pathology in 1992. Dr. Strafuss was the author of more than 70 scientific publications, and a contributing editor and author to an avian disease manual, and author of a textbook, "Procedures and Basic Diagnostic Methods for Practicing Veterinarians." He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. He married Anne Marie Scanlan in Chapman. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include four daughters, Paula Strafuss, Rice Lake, WI, Kathleen Strafuss and Patricia Bauerband, both of Houston, and Mary Strafuss, Kansas City; a son, Thomas, Dallas; two brothers, Herman, Manhattan, and Anton, Horton; three sisters, Dorothy Finan, Blaine, Irene Wienck, Blue Rapids, and Esther Schultz, Topeka; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
