DALLAS - Eloise (Logan) Adams, 80, of Dallas passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, in Dallas. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was born in Dallas and attended Highland Park High School from 1934 to 1938. Eloise graduated from the University of Texas, Austin in 1942 with a bachelor of arts degree and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. In later years she was a member of Sojourn Church and The Dallas Woman's Club.

She was preceded by her loving husband, Charles Knight Adams. In 1970 she was trained by the Child Evangelism Fellowship to present flannel graph Bible stories. She began knocking on doors of non-church related day care centers and before long was telling stories of the Bible at 12 or 13 centers a week. For 25 years she was known as "The Story Lady."

In 1970, she became part of the after-school program of Travis inner city public school and "Soul Patrol." Later she ministered in after-school programs through Dorothy Moore's Reconstruction Outreach and touched the lives of all nationalities in the inner city of Dallas. She would drive anywhere and everywhere to teach the Bible. She also taught the girls' Bible Club in the Kurdish community on Saturday for several years.

Untold numbers of young children in Dallas have heard from her the story of the life of Jesus and His love for them.

Eloise is survived by her children: Virginia Corinne McCanse and her husband, Lynn, of Fairway, Kan., Charles Hamilton Adams of Dallas, William Alfred Bedford of Abilene, Marjorie Graham Osborne and her husband, Nick, of Kerrville, Henry Edward Bedford and his wife, Barbara, of Franklin, Tenn., Dr. George Quinlan Adams and his wife, Debbie, of Dallas, Nancy Jane Adams of Dallas, and Andrew Moffett Adams and his wife, Christina, of Allen; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Eloise will be remembered for her sense of humor in all situations and her love of sharing the Gospel of Christ. Her legacy, which is Christ's message, will live on for generations to come.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday Feb. 10, 2001, at Sojourn Church, with pastors Tim Chapman and Terry Moore officiating. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of contributions to the Benevolent Fund of Sojourn Church, 4041 Marsh Lane, Carrollton, Texas 75007.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas.
