NORFOLK -- Mass of Christian Burial for Philip J. Leu, 84, of Omaha formerly of Norfolk will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday November 4, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk. Officiating the service will be Father Brett Jamrog. Private family inurnment will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m., till service time on Saturday. Philip passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023 with family by his side at CHI Health Lakeside in Omaha. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Philip was born on August 13, 1939 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Walter and Julia (Harter) Leu. He attended grade school in Norfolk and graduated from Norfolk High School in 1958. He then attended Norfolk Tech College for two years before attending Wayne State College for two years. Philip married Norma Gubbels in Randolph on October 27, 1962.
Philips spirit lives on through his spouse of 60 years Norma Leu of Omaha, four daughters JoAnn (Greg) Trinkaus of Las Vegas, NV, Cindy (Brian) Woockman of Stanton, Sandy (Tucker) Wheeler of Omaha, Sarah Rhoades of Omaha, 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, siblings Dick (Caroline) Leu of Washington, Bonnie (Roger) Geiger of Norfolk, sister-in-law's Marian (Jerry) Wingert of Osmond, Sharon Gubbels of Randolph, and brother-in-law Dick Hamm of Oregon. Philip was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Julia Leu, siblings Robert Leu, Patricia Hamm, brother-in-law Vernon Gubbels, and a grandson.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons James Svoboda, Austin Edmister, William Woockman, Cody Woockman, Jacob Woockman, Tyson Rhoades, Houston Wheeler, and Peyton Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be the granddaughters Brittany Bosler, Kennedy Trinkaus, Maddi Wheeler, Mia Rhoades, Emily Wheeler, and Sophie Wheeler.
