King of Ireland. Son of Robert de Brus and Margaret, Countess of Carrick and was the younger brother of King Robert the Bruce of Scotland. Edward fought alongside of Robert for Scottish independence from England. He was married to Isabella Strathbogie and possibly later married to Isabelle de Ross. He had two sons, Thomas born in abt. 1313 and Alexander born in 1315. Edward became King of Ireland and was crowned on May 2, 1316. He was killed at the Battle of Dundall in Ireland on October 14, 1318. His body was quartered and sent to towns in Ireland. His head was sent to King Edward the 2nd of England. Edward is buried in the Faughart Old Churchyard near Faugher, Ireland.
