Adolphe Rabinovitch - studied in Paris before settling in the United States of America. In 1939 volunteered for the Foreign Legion and because of his fluency in French he later joined the French Section of the Special Operations Executive. He rose to the rank of Captain.
Rabinovitch was parachuted into France on 27/28 August 1942 with Peter Churchill and Odette Sansom. He managed to escape capture when the Gestapo had penetrated the Spindle network.
He returned to England via Spain - then returned to France and parachuted in on 3rd March 1944. The Germans had control of the landing site and Rabinovitch was wounded and capturede as he landed. He was taken to the Gestapo Headquarters and brutally tortured and interrogated - then sent to Gross Rosen Concentration Camp and executed 30th July 1944 with 17 of his S.O.E. F Section comrades.
