Carl was raised in Iron County, Missouri. He was the 9th of about eleven children (I believe he had 2 siblings that died at birth), born to Raymond "Ray" Lucy and Ollie Huff. Only one sibling survives, and he's in his 90's. He was raised Baptist, I believe. He attended Messiah Lutheran after he married his wife, who was of that church. He met his wife while he was in the service, and after they married, she traveled around with him. He was the father of 5 children; one child died soon after birth due to being born premature in 1954.

Carl was a laid-back, easy going person. He liked visiting, telling stories, telling jokes, making wine and beer, and enjoyed watching sports at The Dugout, in Emporia. He also enjoyed spending time with his brothers - especially the brother he was closest to, Don.

His ancestry was predominately of the British Isles (English and Scottish), but had a little German, French, and Cherokee Native American anestry as well. His lastname/surname came from de Lucy, which originated in Lucé, Orne, France.

Carl was diagnosed with Cancer 10+ years before he passed away; it was treated and kept very mild and manageable, until the last few years of his life, when it started spreading to other organs.

He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
