Whitley City — Betty Lou New, age 65 years, 9 months, and 22 days, the wife of Roger New, of Stearns, Kentucky passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk with Bro. Randall Meadows and Bro. Stanley Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the Stearns cemetery.
She was born April 20, 1945 in Stearns, Kentucky to Raymond Meadows and Jessie Smith Meadows. Betty was a member of the East Stearns Church of God. Along with fishing, she enjoyed visiting Cade's Cove, and playing a game of Rook. Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and family. She had previously worked at shirt factory, but was well known in the Stearns community for New's Grocery.
Preceding her in death are her parents and a sister, Barbara Ann Meadows.
Survivors include her husband, Roger whom she married May 18, 1985; sons Jerry Troxell and his wife, Kathy, of Marshes Siding, Jeff Troxell and his wife, Robin, of Stearns, Kentucky; stepsons Roger Wayne New and his wife Cindy, Chris New and his wife, Karen, all of Stearns, Kentucky; step-daughter, Myra New and her friend John Lennon, of Stearns, Kentucky; sister Wanda Strunk and her husband, Clifford, of Mason, Ohio; grandchildren, Tyler Troxell and his wife Stacie, Jeremy Troxell and his wife, Courtney, Miranda West and her husband, Steven, Deana Keith and her husband, Rusty, Brandon New and his wife, Opal, Jessica Mason and her husband, Nathan, Rheanna New, Travis New; great-granchildren, Evan and Kaylen Troxell, Gavin and Kylee West, Kyler and Kamble Mason; Nieces, Yvonne Pike and Portia Bannon.
