Forrest Caryle Thayer was born April 13, 1919 and went home March 20, 2011 at 9:00 am. He was born in Ocheydan, Iowa. During his life he lived in Ocheydan, Iowa, Oakland, California, San Leandro, California, Ben Lomond, California and Santa Cruz, California.

He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II and was proud to be a part of the 86th Mountain Infantry Regiment. He graduated from Tech High School in Oakland, California and later in life acquired a Real Estate and Brokers License. He always enjoyed working with tools and fixing anything and everything. With his own two hands, he repaired many properties along the way.

He leaves behind a loving wife of fifty-eight years, Ruth, three daughters, Barbara, Mara and Laura, his son-in-law Edward, five grandchildren, Bill, Jennifer, Bryan, Carrie and Ian, along with five great-granddaughters, Eva Miran, Catia, Karisa, Shania and Shayla.

The Memorial Service to remember his life will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 1:30 pm at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel located at 1050 Cayuga St., in Santa Cruz, California. The family will hold a reception after the service at their daughter's home in Santa Cruz.
