No. 9, Vol. 20, p. 268--Survey of Lands, May 4, 1691, by Wm Moseley for Francis Taliaferro "As marrying Elizabeth, daughter of Colonel John Catlett. Other proofs of parentage: On 28 Sept.,1682, Francis Taliaferro of Gloucester made a deed to brother John Taliaferro of Rappahannock Co. On that same day Francis also made deeds to brother Richard Taliaferro.

Francis was a Planter. Francis lived first at the head of Ware River in Gloucester County and later at "Taliaferro's Mount," Essex County, VA.

Francis Taliffero's home was the place where all the riders of the Golden Horseshoe met to explore the wilderness west of his home in Virginia and West Virginia. His home was the most western of all the great homes at that time.
