Mary Elizabeth Thornton was the youngest of 11 children born to the late William Jefferson "Jeff" and Jennie Johnson Doyle on November 3. 1913. She left this life on November 22, 2012 to join in heaven her sweetheart of 52 years, Hugh Campbell Thornton. She is survived by daughters, Sara Elizabeth Wilhoit of Centerville; Betty Joyce and her husband Frank Field of Nashville; grandchildren, Thomas and his wife Joyce Thornton; Carla Field and her husband Joey Fitzgerald; and great-granddaughter, Nora Fitzgerald.
She was a member of the Shipps Bend Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.
