He spent his youth in Farmington and then in Genola, Utah, where he was an honor student and graduated from Payson High School.
He graduated from Southern Utah State College at Cedar City, where he was active in music and drama productions. Greg showed special gifts in music at a young age and went on to develop his talents in playing the piano, organ, and composing music.
Active in the LDS Church, Greg served as a missionary in the Pennsylvania Spanish Speaking Mission from 1985 to 1987. He was a member of the thirteenth Ward and served as Ward Clerk the past four years. He also was Ward Organist and shared his music talents at Brighton Gardens.
Greg was a sweet humble man with a sense of humor and positive attitude who will be missed by his brothers Allen, Bill, and David Child and his sisters Patricia Child and Linda Petty. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, 25 March 2011 in the Thirteenth Ward Chapel at the Salt Lake Central Stake Center, 630 East 100 South, Salt Lake City, at 12:00 noon. Friends and family may pay their respects at the viewing starting at 10:45 a.m. at the Church.
Burial will occur in the Farmington Cemetery following the services.
