George Rose, 73, of Stoystown, died May 20, 1978 in Somerset Community Hospital. Born June 22, 1904 in Jackson Township, Cambria County, a son of William and Lydia (Harrison) Rose. Preceded in death by parents, four sisters and one brother. Survived by his widow, the former Mildred Ling; and the following children: Mrs. Dwight (Verda) Corbett of Latrobe; Donald of Baldwin Park, Cal.; also two grandsons. Brother of Mrs. Harry (Naomi) Strayer; Mrs. Marlin J. (Orvetta) Murray, both of Johnstown RD 4; Mrs. Kenneth (Neva) Blough of Davidsville; Mrs. Fred (Rhoda) Ott of Hollsopple RD 1; Forrest of Beaver Falls RD Mrs. Violet Cook of Columbus, Ohio. Death ends a marriage union of 51 years. Retired barber with 44 years service in the Stoystown area. Member and deacon of Hooversville Church of the Brethren. Family received friends Sunday evening and will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Harry Bassett officiating. Interment services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Armagh Cemetery.
