Fred W. Petty, 67, of Flatwoods, died March 21, 2011, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.

He was born August 2, 1943, in Waycross, Ga., a son of the late Hinton Sr. and Alberta Wiles Petty.

He was assistant plant manager with CSX Raceland Car Shops and a member of Raceland Christian Church and the Masonic lodge of Waycross.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Petty.

Surviving are his wife, Roseanna Landis Petty of Flatwoods; sons Randy Petty of Slocomb, Ala., and Scott Petty of Gainesville, Fla.; daughters Alisa Williams of Homerville, Ga., and Heather (Greg) Slaven of Redbank, N.J.; brothers Harold (Yvonne) Petty of Marietta, Ga., and Hinton (Cheryl) Petty Jr. of Temple, Ga.; sisters Gloria (Wayne) Valdes of Tampa, Fla., and Shirley (James) Griffin of Waycross; and nine grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods by Pastor Jim Matthews. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the funeral home.
