Burr was a paper maker when he enlisted in Co I,Mass 10th Inf Reg.Enlisted from West Springfield,MA on 21 Jun 1861.Died from disease on 10 Sept 1861 at Brightwood,D.C.,the whole 10th Regiment particated in his funeral.His body was embalmed and sent home to Holyoke,MA.(info from Mass 10th Regiment,p489)
