Leon Charlton, 86, of Wingo died at 3:34 a.m. Sunday at Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton.
A U.S. Marine veteran of World War II, Mr. Charlton was an auto-body repairman. He was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church, Wingo Lions Club and the Water Valley American Legion.

Surviving are two daughters, Anita Sue Roberts of Fulton and Marilyn Hornback of Murray; a son, Donald Joe Charlton of Wingo; a sister, Linda Mae Carter of Water Valley; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Charlton, and a brother. His parents were Chester Charlton and Hallie Puckett Charlton.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home in Wingo. Will McSweeney and Dave Hornback will officiate. Burial will be in Wingo Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 26.

Friends may call after 5 this evening at the funeral home.
