Mrs. Alice P. Murray Dies In Natchez

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice P. Murray, 89, were conducted from the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home Friday, Oct. 17, at 11 a. m. The Rev. Clifford Smyly officiated with the Rev. V. L. Crawley assisting. Mrs. J. T. Waldrop was organist and Carol Jean Myers, a great-niece, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" by Bennard.
Burial followed in Columbia Cemetery.
Mrs. Murray died in Oakwood Lodge Nursing Home in Natchez Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Born Sept. 15, 1891, in Simpson County to Jeff Davis and Mary C. Waters Polk, Mrs. Murray resided in Columbia until the death of her husband, Wallace Murray, in 1962. She was a patient at Floadrian Nursing Home inn Columbia for five years before moving to Oakwood Lodge Nursing Home in Natchez near her son two and one-half years ago. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Homer Murray, Natchez; one brother, Cassie Polk, Monticello; ones sister, Mrs. Lydia Miller, Ocean Springs; two grandsons, Joel and Larry Murray of Memphis; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were a grandson, Larry Murray, Memphis; and nephews, Garland Polk, Monticello; Paul and James Martin, Columbia; Dale Polk, Natchez; and Robert Polk, Bassfield.
