Nobuko Bowers, 75, longtime resident and business woman in Denver, passed away peacefully in Providence Hospital, Everett, WA, Sept. 23, 2010 following a lengthy illness.
Her husband, David was by her side. Nobuko came to Denver in 1957 from her hometown, Saga, Japan. She worked for many years as a hairdresser under the last name of Schwab.
She then opened the restaurant, Kabuki, followed by L'Auberge Zen, on Hampton St. Nobuko retired in 1992 and moved to Seattle where she met and married her husband David.
Retirement was spent in world travels, enjoying new-made friends, cooking, sewing, gardening and karaoke. Beside her husband David, Nobuko is survived by an older sister Takako and younger brothers, Tomonori and Masaharu, of Japan.
A private memorial will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery, Coupeville Washington in the spring. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choosing. Nobuko was loved by all who knew her and will be surely missed.
