Burial will follow at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home. Mr. Culler, of Highland Park, died of kidney failure Friday at Presbyterian Hospital. He was 90. Mr. Culler began his accounting work early, serving as a bookkeeper for his dad's tire company in Springfield, Mo., when he was 13.
"He's always been studious, so that's not surprising," said his wife, Maurine Culler of Highland Park. In 1925, Mr. Culler received a bachelor of science degree in business from Washington University in St. Louis. In 1934, he founded the Texas Bond Reporter , a publication that included bond information for investment bankers. While working with the publication, Mr. Culler continued his work as an accountant, serving as a partner in Culler, Miller, Romine Inc. Mr. Culler sold the Texas Bond Reporter in 1955. He retired in 1987.
"He devoted his full time to CPA work," Mrs. Culler said. "He did not have any hobbies - he worked all the time." But Mrs. Culler said her husband did have a fun side. He was a charter member of Northwood Country Club, past president of the Park Cities Rotary Club and a member of the Dallas Country Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, William E. Culler of Dumas, Texas, and George W. Culler III of Richmond, Texas; and two daughters, Pat Culler of Highland Park and Ann Sahlstrom of Turlock , Calif.
