A teenage girl from Lauderdale County died this morning at the Regional Medical Center after being airlifted there Saturday afternoon.

Tiffany Lynn Sanders, 16, of Ripley, Tenn., died at 1:00 Sunday from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident just before 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

She was traveling south on Garrett Rd. in Lauderdale County when a series of over-corrections sent her 1999 Mercury Cougar off the west side of the road and down an embankment, Tennessee Highway Patrol communications operator Tange Haywood said.

Sanders was pinned in the vehicle, which had flipped up on its left side. Rescue crews pulled her from the vehicle and carried her by helicopter to The Med.

Operator Haywood said Sanders was wearing her seatbelt and there were no drugs or alcohol involved in the crash.
