Kathryn Lynn Filiberti, 18, of Hyde Park died suddenly on Saturday, March 19, 2011.

Born in Poughkeepsie on December 1, 1992, she was the daughter of John and Linda (Dixon) Filiberti.

Katie was a graduate of Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, Class of 2010, where she was a 6 year member of the gymnastic team and a 2 year member of the cross country team. She presently was in her first year at Dutchess Community College where she also worked in the student services department.

Katie was the beloved daughter of John and Linda Filiberti of Hyde Park; cherished granddaughter of John and Kathryn Dixon of LaGrangeville; dear sister of Nikki Filiberti of Hyde Park; loving niece of Nancy Dixon of Hyde Park, Thomas Filiberti of Alpharetta,Ga. and Mike Dixon of Clinton Corners. Also surviving cousins Jessie, Kelly, Jamie, Chris & Mike Floryan. Visitation will be Saturday 10 am - 1 pm at Fitzgerald & Rhynders Funeral Home, 4353 Albany Post Rd. (Rt. 9), Hyde Park. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm from Regina Coeli Church, Albany Post Rd. (Rt.9), Hyde Park. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a memorial fund in Katie's name to benefit the FD Roosevelt Gymnastics Team. Checks may be made payable to The Kathryn Filiberti Memorial Scholarship Fund and can be sent to Community Foundation of Dutchess County, 80 Washington St., Poughkeepsie,NY 12601.

Police identified the woman whose body was found Saturday off Greentree Drive in Hyde Park, as Kathryn L. Filiberti, 18, of Hyde Park.


Police said the death is being investigated as a homicide.

Filiberti's body was found just after noon on Saturday, said Town of Hyde Park police Chief Charles Broe Sr.


"We are looking to speak with anyone who may have been on Route 9G, between Green Bush Drive (south of West Dorsey Lane) and Greentree Drive, between late Friday evening and the early morning hours on Saturday," said Broe in a written release.


"Anyone who was in that area, during those times, and may have seen anything suspicious is strongly encouraged to contact the authorities," he said. "All information provided and the identity of the callers will be kept strictly confidential."
