Obituary from the Deseret News on 23 Aug 1918.60

"Death Calls Faithful and Devoted Woman"
"Blanding, Aug. 21— Mrs. Mary E. Foster Lake, who recently passed away at this place, was born at Ogden, July 4, 1852. She was married to George Lake in 1862. She was one whose faith and devotion took her successfully through the hardships consequent to pioneer and frontier life. Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Lake moved to Oxford, Idaho, where he presided as bishop. Mrs. Lake followed her husband on a mission in 1876 into Arizona. Later Mrs. Lake went to the Cherokee
mountains where she lived with her young family. Following the "move south" she was taken by her husband into Old Mexico. When Mr. Lake died his wife was left with five children. Through toil and
sacrifice she succeeded in erecting a comfortable home, but the time of sacrifice had not yet passed. She with other Saints in that war-stricken country with three of her children went to St. George, where her life of usefulness and devotion to her faith continued. She met George Crosby to whom she was married in January 1915. Mr. Crosby died in September of the same year. In April of this year she came to her children in San Juan country and was at the home of her son, Wm B. Lake in Blanding, at the time of her death. Her life was one of devotion to husband and family, sacrifice of self and faithfulness. She was the mother of 11 children, and is survived by six children. 32 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Blanding, Aug. 15."
