She was a daughter to Leroy and Minnie (Davis) Lawrence. Her mother survives in Lima. On Aug 27, 1983, she married the Rev. Dr. Dennis M. Ward, who survives in Lima.
Surviving are two daughters, Shantel M. Ward, Atlanta, and Courtney N. Ward, Augusta, GA; and five brothers, Walter, Barnesville, GA, Brady and Andy (Bernice), all Lima, Lacey, Denver, and Calvin (Kim), Orlando, FL.
She was an Army veteran, serving six years as an administrative specialist and received the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. She had been a substitute teacher for Lima City and Shawnee schools. She had been a chaplain for the Market Place Chaplains. She was the founder and owner of YEROC Enterprises, which she considered among her greatest accomplishments. She was a 1982 graduate of Shawnee High School and received her bachelor's degree in English in 2001 from The Ohio State University. Also in 2001, she was ordained as a minister at World Harvest Ministries, Columbus. Her passion was spreading the gospel through her books, singing and giving of her time. She authored three books and recorded two compact discs. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she lovingly served and supported her husband as the first lady of the church, was a member of the choir, and taught alongside her husband as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed traveling with her family and meeting new people. She was known as a giver of her time and talents. She volunteered with various local agencies including the United Way, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Black Achievers, Positive Life Styles, Channel 44 and sang at several functions. She was a member of BMA and GMA. She volunteered at the Dove Awards, Gospel Music Awards and the National Power Networking Business conferences. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, a praying mother, and a faithful friend of God.
Services are at Philippian Missionary Baptist Church, with The Rev. Dr. B. LaMont Monford, officiating, and Dr. Cedric Fowler, delivering the eulogy.
