Gary was a lifelong resident of the Wenatchee Valley, retiring from Alcoa after 23 years. Gary loved everything outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed hiking and camping with family and friends on the local trails, weekend trips to the cabin at Fish Lake and vacationing at Ocean Shores, but he was truly in his element panning for gold down at the Wenatchee River. He was a proud member of his church and looked forward to the many gatherings that it offered.

He is survived by his children, Chrystal Trim of Bothell, Gary L. Adkins of Sunnyside, Ian Adkins and Heather (Ken) Lindley, all of Wenatchee; a sister, Carolyn Welch of Wenatchee; brother, Raymond Adkins of Cashmere; and grandsons, Tyler and Beau Trim and Jared Adkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis "Snooks" and Ruby Adkins; and brother, Duane Adkins.

Services for "The Bear" will be held at the Cashmere City Cemetery in Cashmere on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Gathering at the Cashmere American Legion Hall.
