Helen was born in Harmony Township to Frank and Mary. A brief newspaper article suggests the family left for Central City, Colorado in the spring of 1902.

Helen graduated from Central City High School in 1910. She became a schoolmistress in Black Hawk.

Helen married Harry on Aug. 6, 1914 in Central City. Their children were Frances, Mellor, and Nellie.

Helen became ill in Oct. 1918. She died at age 28, at home in Berkeley, a few days after Nellie was born. She was a victim of H1N1 Spanish flu.

Helen's funeral was on Feb. 26, 1919.
