Benjamin Jon Schonschack, age 56, of Avoca, Michigan, passed away on May 21, 2010, at home, surrounded by his devoted family, after a short illness.

Benjamin Schonschack was born and raised in Mount Clemens on June 16, 1953, son of the late Donald Schonschack and Marion Schonschack. Benjamin graduated from Mount Clemens High School and Macomb Community College. He played softball on multiple teams and won many championships in and around the Mount Clemens area.

Benjamin moved to the Lexington area in 1994, and married Anne Marie Bartley on September 16, 1995.

He was a laborer and cement mason for over 20 years, had a successful concrete placement business of his own, and was currently employed as a construction superintendent for Natgun Corp. of Wakefield, Massachusetts, where he traveled the United States building wire-wound pre-stressed concrete storage tanks for cities and municipalities.

Benjamin loved and was adored by his wife of 15 years, Anne Marie. Ben took great pride in the beautiful home they built, and spent all his spare time perfecting the home, yard and gardens. He was a constant source of strength, love and inspiration to his children and family. He will be forever remembered for his generosity, sense of humor and work ethic. His bright smile, love of life, and the twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes will always be in our hearts. The void his passing has caused will never be filled, but heaven is a more joyous place with his presence.

Ben was survived by his wife, Anne Marie Bartley; five children, Jason, Noelle, Stephanie, Jennifer and Michelle; five grandchildren, Natalie, Jaylyn, Teegan, Caleb and Katelyn; five sisters and brothers, Jerri-Sue, Vicki, Mary, Ann, Joann and Paul; father-in-law, Billy Bartley; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Schonschack II.
