He was a Revolutionary War patriot--a Lieutenant in Capt. Jurinan Hogan's Company, Col. Henry Quakenboss' regiment, Albany Co., NY Militia. In 1802, Matthew Flansburgh removed from Guilderland,Albany Co.,via the Schenectady-Fish House-Beecher Hollow trail, and settled in Day [known then as Concord]. His ancestry was Joseph Vlensburgh 1720-a1774, Mattheus Vlensburgh c1688-1739, Jan Jansen Van Flensburg b1672-a1699.
His Parents were: Joseph Vlensburgh and Elizabet Feling Vlensburgh.
Mathew also found as Mattheus and Maria had the following children: Peter, William Henry, Gertrude, Betsey and Catherine . no other information found for burials of other children besides Peter and William Henry.
