Claude R. Boyd, a resident of Milford and former resident of Dearborn Heights died on March 18, 2011, at the age of 86. He is survived by Shirley, his beloved wife of over fifty-five years; daughter, Denise Hendricks; son, Alan (Adina) Boyd; grandchildren, Bethany, Rebecca, and Rachael Nolin, Stephen and Alex Boyd; brothers, Hubert (the late Lois) Boyd and Frank (Ruth) Boyd; sister-in-law, Louise Shomo, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Born on May 25, 1924 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, the son of Robert John Boyd and Kathleen (Leggett) Boyd, Claude grew up in Dearborn where the family settled when he was young. Following graduation from Fordson High School in Dearborn, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific during WWII. When he returned from war he worked for Lincoln Mercury before making his career as an engineer with Ford Motor Company's Glass Division. It was at Ford Motor Company that he met Shirley Shomo in 1954. They fell in love and married on January 7, 1956 at St. Paul's Church in Dearborn. They made their home in Dearborn Heights for over forty years before retiring to Milford after Claude's forty-eight years at Ford. At home he enjoyed working outside, maintaining a pristine lawn and beautiful gardens. Above all, he enjoyed his family with whom he enjoyed opportunities to travel together to Aruba, Los Cabos, Florida, the Bahamas, England, Alaska and many other amazing family trips.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, on Monday, March 21, at 10AM with Rev. Anne Schaefer officiating. Graveside Services and Military Honors will be held at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock on Monday at 1:30PM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-8PM.
