Lilly moved from Beggs Ok where she was born,Traveling in a two story wagon her father had made, the upper story was for the children to sleep in and the lower was for the adults. Her father would hunt and they would gather wild vegtables for their food along the way .The wagon broke down a couple times along the way and they would stay over until it was repaired they finely arrived in Camden co ,mo in time for her to start school in Camdenton. Her father Charlse Freddrick Foust had to sign papers stating her age as they had no birth certificate. She lived in the camden co area until after her marriage and birth of her first four children,She then moved to the Kansas City area.Lilly was a very pretty woman all her life .She had black wavy hair an olive complexion and her eyes were blue and at times green .She loved to dance and loved babies which was fortunate since she was the mother of nine children of her own. The grandchildren came and she was always playing and cooing with them . Her eyes would twinkle and snap when she had her hands on the newest baby.
Lilly after moving to Kansas City found work with a matress company to help suppliment the family income this set the stage for her lifelong profession .
After learning to sew on industrial machines she found employment with a uphoslstry business where she worked for thirty years as seamstress doing the sewing work on the furniture made there.
Heart problems forced her to retire or she would have continued on as work had become an enjoyed part of her life.Lilly loved to dance and cut up as she called it , she showed me the Charlston once when I was a young girl and she laughed and really glowed .
Lilly was very creative in a lot of things she sewed coin purses and pillows and the like from fabric scraps from her job. One year when I was a child she helped us to make a table cloth for our thanksgiving table . We as children helped to put on the colorful sequins and paint as mom did the drawing of the cornacopia in the center . That was one of the most lovely things to my eye then , And a fond memory now as I look back .
