U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the law department of Fordham University in 1910, was admitted to the bar and proceeded to practice law in Brooklyn, New York. He was a member of the New York State Assembly, (1922-26) and served in the New York State Senate, (1927-34). In 1935, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fourth, Seventy-fifth and Seventy-sixth Congresses, serving until 1941. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 69.
