Loving wife of William G. Close. Devoted mother of Alice M., Gilbert, Frederick, Robert, Katherine "Kittie", Julia, Henry, Mary, Abbie, George and Minnie. Mary came to Saginaw in 1857 at the age of eleven.

Mrs. Mary McDermott Close, 74 years old, widow of William G. Close, died at her home, 171 Bay Street. She was born in New York city June 20, 1846, and came to Saginaw with her parents in 1857. She was married here to Mr. Close in 1864. She leaves four children; Gilbert Close of Saginaw, Mrs. William H. Lougheed, Mrs. Edward F. Barnett and Fred Close of Detroit. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the home. Rev. G. H. Curts will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood. (Pub. The Saginaw News Courier, Saginaw, MI, Mon. 25 Apr.1921, pg 7)
