Elbert Elester Loveday was born on October 18, 1881, in Sevierville, Tennessee, Son of Amanda Elizabeth Loveday and grandson of Perry Loveday and Angeline "Angelina" McMahan Loveday.

He stayed in Sevierville until he was in his early 30's, working in the lumber industry and moved to WV to work in the coal mines.

In 1916 he and Rosetta and sons Garland and Ernest lived on a hillside in Kayford, WV. and survived the great flood of 1916, barely escaping their home as the mountain side slid into the raging flood waters. They managed to climb the mountain to safety. Returning to Tennessee with only the clothes on their backs, they remained for about a year before returning to WV to settle first in Raleigh County and then on Cabin Creek in Ohley.

For a second time they lost their home to raging flood waters but continued to live and raise their family in Ohley until they made the move to Gallia County, Ohio. With a big garden, a milk cow, some chickens and a hog or two, coupled with his hunting skills, his family never went hungry, even during the great depression.

He married Rosetta Hannah Williams, in Sevier County, Tennessee, and they had at least seven children in 18 years. He died on June 8, 1956, in Gallipolis, Ohio, at the age of 74, and was buried in Charleston, West Virginia in the Springhill Cemetery where he would be joined by his loving wife Rosetta in June of 1982 and later his son Garland and daughter in law, Louise.
