Helen worked in a factory in Detroit and then at a canning factory in Pigeon.
After she married Wilmer Nimtz on January 5, 1957, she became a devoted mother of five children and housewife. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing.
She enjoyed playing euchre, going to garage sales, canning, quilting, her flowers and her rock gardens, watching the Tigers with Wilmer, and most importantly spending time with her family whom she loved dearly.
Helen was the beloved wife of her husband for 54 years, Wilmer Nimtz. She was the loving mother of Peggy Helen (Duane) Scharich, Lori (Rocky) Joles, Thomas (Michelle) Nimtz, Michael (Laura) Nimtz, and the late Brenda (survived by Evan) Houthoofd. Helen was a proud grandmother of Heather, Jonathan, Melissa, Matthew, Caleb, Mark, Emily Helen, Christina, Angela Helen, Jacob, Sarah Helen, and Camden; also the great grandmother of Landon and Nathan. She was a loving sister of David Jr. and Audrey Vollmer, Dorothy Gruehn, and the late John, Arthur and Frank Vollmer and her late half brothers and sisters. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, Sebewaing from 1-9 pm.
The Funeral Mass will be Monday, February 21, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing. Visitation will take place at the church at 10 am until the time of service at 11 am.
Burial will take place at St. John Lutheran Cemetery – Kilmanagh in Sebewaing.
Memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or Regional Dialysis Services.
