Peoples, held without bond in the Sedgwick County Jail, is accused of first-degree murder and murder during the commission of a felony in the slaying of Carla Perkins.
The charges were filed Thursday in Sedgwick County District Court, less than 24 hours after Miss Perkins died in a Wichita hospital. She was found nude with multiple injuries in a ditch southeast of Wichita on Sept. 15, a day after she was abducted from her apartment.
Peoples also faces charges of aggravated kidnapping and rape. Police said Peoples was a friend of Miss Perkins’ boyfriend.
