Beryl Beatrice Barton was born February 25, 1913 at Mounds, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of John Lee Brown and Myrtle Muscogee Stevens Brown. Beryl passed away March 18, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was 98 years of age.
Beryl was raised on a family farm south west of Mounds that was her mother, Myrtle's Creek Indian allotment. Beryl graduated from Mounds High School, Class of 1930. She then continued her education at Oklahoma University for two years.
Beryl Brown and William Franklin "Bill" Barton were united in marriage on September 4, 1932 at Tulsa, Oklahoma. At the time of his death, they had celebrated over 58 years of marriage. They resided in Tulsa until they retired to Beryl's family farm in 1975. Bill passed away on January 4, 1991 in the family home and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in the Brown Family Plot.
Beryl took real estate sales courses and went into retail sales and real estate sales. She worked for Renberg's Department Store in Tulsa for many years and did some substitute teaching. Beryl was active in the First Methodist Church in Tulsa and after moving to Mounds, the Mounds Christian Church. A member of the Mounds Historical Society. Beryl was the oldest living Mounds Pioneer and was honored during a Fourth of July parade in 2007. There have been seven generations of family living in Mounds and there are four generations living on the farm today.
Beryl was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill.
