"Grad. V.P.I., 1917; B.D., Union Theol. Seminary, 1931. Served in the U.S. Army during W.W., 2nd Lt., 67th F.A.; a teacher, 1919-1928, since 1931 a Presbyterian clergyman; res. Mullins, S.C. He m. at Wakefield, Va., Dec. 29, 1920, Essie Mae Robertson, daughter of Jesse Thomas and Nancy (Osborne) Robertson. She was born Apr. 6, 1904 at Wakefield. They had four children:

In 1998, the Tombstone was fallen over and covered by grass. Richard's stone with his wife is now standing and he has a 2nd marker from the military below (see photo).
