Eliza Bowes, oldest child of Robert and Jane Bowes, born in Co. Fermanaugh, Ireland in 1833 (possibly Nov 1832) died at home of son Thomas in Bowling May 13, 1915 aged 82 years. At age 9 came to America and settled in Rock Island. Co. Married W. W. Curtis at age 18 and to them were born 9 children. Two, William and Mary preceded her in death. When a young woman converted and joined M.E. Church. A woman of sterling worth. Surviving children: Robert of Walnut, Iowa, Emma Slater of Cedar Falls, Ia., Frank of Perryton (Twp., Mercer Co.) , Minor, Thomas and Lydia Rathbun of Bowling (Twp., Rock Island Co.) Nellie Blayney of Galesburg. One brother, James Bowes of Taylor Ridge and a sister Jane Harman of Rogers, Kansas. 20 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
