Funeral services for Miss Pearl Amelia Gay were held from the Hope Lutheran Church, Moose Lake, on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 2 p.m. Pastor Gordon Bordine officiated. Roland Johnson was the soloist accompanied by Mrs. Mabel Kjarum. Casket bearers were: Edward Almquist, Sulo Sarvela, Richard Hart, Walter Lower, Jr. Mauritz Swanson and Roy Ahlbom.

Interment was held at the Riverside Cemetery, Moose Lake.

Pearl Amelia Gay was born at Moose Lake on Nov. 1, 1894. She grew up at Moose Lake attending the Moose Lake Schools graduating with the first 8th grade graduating class of 1909. She later attended the Glove Business College at St. Paul and then worked for the New York Life Insurance Offices in Minneapolis until 1918. She moved back to Moose Lake after the 1918 Fire and helped her parents organize the Gay Lumber Co. in 1919. She continued being active in the business until two years ago. Miss Gay also worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad as a clerk at the depot from 1919 to 1941. In 1941 she started working at the Moose Lake Post Office until her retirement in 1965. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Rebekahs in Moose Lake. She was active in the choir of Zion Lutheran Church before 1962 and was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church after the merger. Miss Gary was also a member of the American Postal Workers Union. She had been living at the Mercy Nursing Home at Moose Lake since Sept. 1973. She entered Mercy Hospital on Jan. 2nd and passed away there on Saturday, Jan. 5, at the age of 79 years.

Surviving are two brothers, Chester J. of Moose Lake and Kenneth F. of Sturgeon Lake, and three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Kasper of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Howard (Mildred) Caskey of Richmond, Virginia, and Mrs. Keith (Grace) Garnatz of Wausau, Wisconsin, and several nieces and nephews.
