OBITUARY :
MRS. RUTH G. (HEEFNER) GLENN, 92, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011 in Michigan.

Born April 30, 1918 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mary Ruth (Lyne) and Faber W. Heefner.

She was a graduate of Waynesboro High School and later attended Catawba College in Salisbury, NC.

She married the late Mr. Wayne B. Glenn in 1940 and they moved to Washington D.C. Her daughter Lynda was born in 1941.

Ruth joined the purchasing division of the Naval Research Laboratory and retired from that agency in 1978.

She served on the Advisory Council of the Retired Senior Volunteer program while living in Upper Marlboro, MD.

In 1997, she moved to Saginaw, Michigan where she joined the State Street United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Mary Martha Circle, Altar Guild and a volunteer for the Bread Spread Project for the City Rescue Mission. She also was a member of NARFE and National AARP.

Ruth, Wayne and Lynda traveled all over the world and especially enjoyed a cruise to Alaska. She traveled to China with her sister, Betty and saw the Great Wall of China.

Ruth was a loving, kind person and had the most positive outlook on life. Her sense of humor and wonderful laugh were amazing. She always wanted to make sure everyone else was taken care of before herself.

WHAT A WONDERFUL WOMAN!! WHAT A WONDERFUL FRIEND!!

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Lynda; two niece, Trudy (Mike) Diller of Clyde, MI and Bonnie (Dave) DeYoung of St. Kitts, West Indies.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Heefner Cashman and Ann Heefner Bearinger.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 25, 2011 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro with Pastor Mark Shover officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
