Son of John P Gaines & Mary Wallis

William Wallace Gaines was born in Howard County, Mo., December 6, 1838. He moved to Randolph County at the age of 21 and has lived here from that time.

He ws united in marriage to Miss Martha Ancell of Randolph County April 21, 1886. To his union four children were born, namely: Mamie, Etta, William and Charles, all of whom survive him.

He made a profession of faith in Christ in his home several years ago but never united with the church, but because of his faith was prepared to go when the summons came.

Bro. Gaines was a loving husband and father and an honored citizen, respected by all who knew him.

On Sunday evening of August 19th at about 5:45 his life came to a close among friends here and he went to be with the Lord.

Besides his loved ones he leaves one niece, Mrs. Robert Walker of Armstrong, Mo.; and a host of friends to mourn his departure.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30, August 20, 1928, at the Mt. Shiloh church, in Darksville, Mo. Rev. Carl Schneider, pastor of Mt. Shiloh church assisted by Rev. J. H. Lynn, conducted the services in the presence of a large crowd.
