Eleanore Mae Artz, 83, formerly of West West Terrace, passed away peacefully Saturday in Lake Orion, Mich.
Eleanore was born in Pottsville and a graduate of the Pottsville High School, Class of 1945.
She was the wife of the late Ray H. Artz Sr., who passed away in 1973, and a daughter of the late Howard and Pearl Newton.
She and her husband were the owners of Ray H. Artz Insurance Agency.
Eleanore resided in the Minersville-Pottsville area most of her life, retired to Florida in 2000 and later moved to Michigan.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Newton; a grandson, Christopher Artz.
Eleanore is survived by daughters, Alison Boggs, Oakland, Mich., and Ellen Crowley, Chester Springs, Pa.; a son, Ray Jr., Odessa, Fla.; grandsons, Douglas, Brad and Elliot Crowley; a granddaughter, Hayley Boggs; great-granddaughters, Ella and Thea Crowley; sisters, Marie Miller and Mary Lou Kennedy; brothers, Howard Newton, William Newton and Robert Newton.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Minersville, with the Rev. Adam C. Sedar officiating. There will be no visitation Wednesday evening. Interment will be in St. Vincent de Paul No. 2 Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that a memorial donation be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America and shall be accepted during calling hours at the funeral home. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, is in charge of arrangements.
