Joyce RaLae Challis was born April 21st, 1943 at Salt Lake City, Utah to parents, Raymond and Alice Leora (Payne) Hollingsworth. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 18th, 2011 at her home in Umatilla, Oregon at the age of 67.
She was raised in Elgin, Oregon and graduated from high school there. She graduated from Pendleton Beauty College with honors. On February 18th, 1973 she married Eugene O. Challis at Winnemucca, Nevada. They lived in Pendleton for a short time before moving to Umatilla, Oregon in 1976. Joyce ran her own Home Interior Business for several years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Elgin, Oregon.
She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, doll making, puzzles, and she loved her family and loved taking care of her husband Gene.
She is survived by her Husband of 38 years, Eugene Challis of Umatilla, OR; Children, Robert Eugene Challis of Umatilla, OR, Mary Kay Morgan-Bork of Pendleton, OR, Linda NaDeane Morgan-Self of Hermiston, OR, Kevin Ray Morgan and wife Janet of Stanfield, OR, Tamera Ilene Rafferty and husband Tim of Prosser, WA, and Cynthia Irene Prewitt and husband Jeremie of Hermiston, OR; 3 Sisters, Deanna Hylton of Elgin, OR, Danise Wheeler and husband Gale of Molalla, OR, and Viki Davidson and husband Larry of Mulino, OR; 22 Grandchildren; 4 Great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Raymond & Leora Hollingsworth and Brother, LeeRay Hollingsworth.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Umatilla Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Umatilla. Burial will follow at the Sunset Hills Cemetery in Umatilla.
