Oglesby "Obey" Holmes was born on May 11, 1882, in Alton, Missouri. He is the son of William and Sarah (Francis) Holmes. When Oglesby was old enough he left his home in Missouri and headed east to Paragould. In 1900 Census Obie was neighbors to the Joiner family and actually married James Joiners daughter Rosa Ann Joiner on June 15, 1902.. They had two children during their marriage. He worked at the Box Factory at Bard and also cut timber. They attended church at Walls Chapel where he was an ordained deacon. Oglesby came down with congestion that took the life of this young father on December 2, 1905, in Greene, Arkansas. He was only 23. He is buried at Clark Cemetery in Paragould, Greene County, Arkansas along with other members of the Joiner family.
