Loren Benedict married Paulina Adgate, daughter of Abel and Polly Adgate, in Pontiac,Oakland County,Michigan on January 1, 1839. He immediately brought her to his new homestead near Cook's Corners in Ostico Township,Ionia County,Michigan. In 1846 the family moved to Berlin and Orange Townships in Ionia County. They had four sons, George Washington, Abel Foster,Emerson and Philo and daughter Emaline Lausinda, who married Henry Sprague.
