Pioneer of County Dies Here Today

Mrs. S.W. (Roxanna) Hunter, 93-year-old pioneer of Childress County died at 1:45 p.m. today in the Childress General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church of which she was a member and burial will be in the Childress Cemetery by Newberry's. Other details were not learned at press time.

Mrs. Hunter was born August 20, 1878, in Arkansas and came to Childress in 1904 from Vernon.
Her husband was a farmer in the country and she moved to Childress after he died in 1948.

Survivors include five sons, Clarence of Dallas, Cecil of Whitney, Clovis and Kenneth, both of Los Angeles, and Woodrow of Childress; three daughters, Mrs. J.D. Hudlow of Childress, Mrs. E.J. Compton of New London, Texas, and Mrs. Polly Koche of Dallas; 31 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
