Delores Lee Ray, 75, "Dee" as she was called by her friends and family, of Valparaiso, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011.
After a long and lengthy illness , she led a long and courageous life.
She was born January 11, 1936 in Michigan City, the daughter of Lawrence and Ruth (Weatherbee) Hamilton.
On July 27, 1952 in Michigan City, she married the love of her life Fredrick "Fred" Hilburn Ray, who preceded her in death December 22, 2010. Her parents, a half-brother John Hamilton and a half-sister Rose Lasky also preceded her in death.
Delores and Fred renewed their wedding vows on October 26, 1975. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society and the Oasis Club and attended the Crusill with the church.
Delores retired from Porter Memorial Hospital from the housekeeping department. She was a member of the Moose Lodge #437, the American Legion Post 94 ladies Auxiliary and the Eagles Lodge #2517 Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are her sister Nancy Thomas and children, Sondra (Robert) Repp of Texas, Rodney Ray (Jamie Schuldt, mother of Claityn) of Wheatfield, Debbie (James) Williamson of Texas, Larry Ray of Valparaiso and Jeff (Jennifer) Ray of Valparaiso. 6 grandchildren, James Jr., Chad and Chris Williamson, Karis Triem, Claityn and Jacob Ray. 3 great grandchildren, Brooke, Brandon and Hayden Williamson.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Church, Rev. Joseph Pawlowski officiating.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 18, 2011, 4-8 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home in Valparaiso. Moose rites will be held at 7:30 PM.
