Benjamin Hanks Lott was born in Carroll County, Mississippi, he was the son John William and Florence Ann Lott, they were born in Mississippi. After the Civil War John Lott and his brother Benjamin James Lott left Mississippi, and traveled to Denton County, Texas along with some of their children, John William Lott settled in Denton County, Texas and than moved to Weatherford, Parker County, Texas. Benjamin married Mary Sally Marsh December 25, 1895, in Rockwall County, Texas, they were the parents of ten children.
