Motion Picture Director. Considered a legend in the motion picture industry as a producer, director, and special-effects pioneer, he produced the 1953 science fiction classic "The War of the Worlds." In 1960, he directed the sci-fi classic "The Time Machine," and later the innovative fantasy "Seven Faces of Dr. Lao" (1964).
