On Monday, March 14, 2011 Jack Kindt, 71, lost his eighteen month battle with cancer; but on this same date, through his faith in our Lord and Savior, he won his reward in Heaven with Eternal Life. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 17 at Zion Church of Kurten in Kurten, Texas, with interment following at Kurten Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Jack was born in Bryan, Texas to Walter and Minnie Wiese Kindt. He grew up in Kurten, Texas and attended Kurten School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1958. He married Shirley Sherrill in 1962 and God blessed them with 48 wonderful years together. He was a member of Zion Church of Kurten. He was employed by the Texas A&M Agronomy Department, USDA Plant Science Department and retired in 1997 from owning and operating Thermo Insulation Company in Bryan for 31 years. He was always a man of his word in everything he did. Jack loved to travel, and he and Shirley enjoyed many miles of traveling on their Harley Davidson Motorcycles and in their motor home. He enjoyed attending Western Swing Music Festivals. For the past 10 years he opened up his barn every Thursday afternoon to jammers who loved to play the old Western Swing and Country & Western music. This jam became known as the 'Medicare Jam'. The Medicare Jam Players will be Honorary Pall Bearers at the Service. Jack was preceded in death by his parents. Walter & Minnie Wiese Kindt and his Father and Mother-in-Law, Homer & Vera Sherrill. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Sherrill Kindt; two brothers, David Kindt and his wife, Peggy, and Jerry Kindt of Kurten, Texas; one sister, Linda Kindt Tewes and husband, David, of Victoria, Texas; brother-in-law, Gary Sherrill of Matagorda, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, who were very special to him.
