SARAH EMMA LANGFORD

Sarah Emma Davis, daughter of D. Marion and Lucretia Davis, was born Oct. 4, 1870 in Wayne county, Iowa, and departed this life Aug. 3, 1953, at her home in Chariton at the age of 82 years and 10 months.

On Dec. 25, 1892, she was united in marriage to John G. Langford. To this union 11 children were born.

Her husband, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Those left to mourn their loss are: Mrs. Art Baber, Mrs. Sewell Baber, Mrs. Harry Goddard, Lee and Johnnie, all of Chariton; David and Virgil, of Corydon; Mrs. Walter Burley, of Indianola; Ben, of Millerton; Mrs. Fred Keck, of Columbus, Ohio; and William, of Whittier, Calif.

She also leaves 31 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Katie Briles, of Chariton, one brother, David Davis, of Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and many friends.

For the past year she has been in failing health and was tenderly cared for with loving hands until she passed away. She was a kind and loving mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held at the Sharon church south of town, on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Clayton P. Shepard. Burial was in the Sharon cemetery.
