He was the son of Raymond and Dora (Lacy) Frank. On May 20, 1945, he married Waneta Schroer, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Mike (Judy), St. Marys; two daughters, Anita (Floyd) Melby, Holland, Terrie (Russ) Burd, Xenia; seven grandchildren, Michelle Karadsheh, Columbus, Julie (Gerrry) Bush, Beavercreek, Lisa (Tony) Graci, Springboro, John (Lisa) Melby, Holland, Suzanne (Aaron) Geckle, Cincinnati, David Frank, Medina, Jenna Frank, Virginia Beach, VA; and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Freda Knapke, Dorothy Andrews.
He was a 1940 graduate of Celina High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps, 3rd Division, 21st Regiment, during World War II and was in the third wave of Marines to storm the beach at Iwo Jima. He also fought at Guadalcanal, Guam and Bouganville. He was the retired owner of St. Marys Appliance Center. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in St. Marys, where he had previously taught Sunday school and served on the consistory of the church. He loved nature, cutting wood, woodworking and was an avid fisherman. For many years he owned a cottage on Pelee Island, Canada, and took many family vacations there. He will be remembered as a very happy man who was always content.
Funeral services will be at the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys, with the Rev. Ed Bray, officiating.
